One of the most difficult years of the last decades in Northern Greece, especially for the late ripening varieties. Heavy rainfall in the beginning of the year led to high pressure from diseases causing problems in fruit set. High temperature that followed during summer helped the growth of the grapes, however, high precipitation levels recorded during harvest made the ripening of the grapes difficult and increase disease outbreaks.Good vineyard management, tight pruning and green harvest led to the earlier ripening of Assyrtiko, which was harvested before the rainy period begins. In this way, one of the hardest vintages gave grapes of very high quality.
Further experimentation and improvements in the fermentation temperature protocol resulted in a year with many accolades.
